This post is confusing. What paint are you using, water mixable oils, gouache, acrylics, surely not wc ? Why use harsh bristle brushes for a soft paint ? If and when brushes take such a beating, I prefer to buy low end and not waste money that way
Thanks Mel. Flasche is an acrylic gouache paint of student quality, so no good for professional work to be sold to patrons, if you have any respect for your patrons......
Flashe is actually not acryla gouache. It's a vinyl paint. I'm currently exploring its possibilities. It's beautiful and matte and there are professional, galleried artists who use it who are giving me tips about it. I'll share them at some point in the future:)
Thank you for sharing your findings. Good use of the cheaper range of hog bristle brushes. I never use high quality for water media, love the cheap ones! I think it depends what type of marks one wants. I do a lot of scumbling and my brushes get a lot of abuse!! lol.
I love your shaggy brush strokes. What is the textured mat board you are using please?
This is where open acrylics may help you get the stokes you want. Of course, that’s with synthetic brushes so maybe not so much. But you might wanna try them if you haven’t already. Barbara Cella
For me, I think it's about the brushes. I actually don't mind that Flashe is insta-dry, but I don't like synthetic brush marks very much. Someday, my medium, brushes, and surfaces will all be perfect:) Hopefully!
Are you showing paintings done with water color? They look like something else??
It's Flashe paint. More like acrylics
Such helpful information. Thank you!
I'm glad it was useful, Karen!
What great information! Thank you Ingrid.
You're welcome, Joyce! I'm glad it was helpful
Ingrid, this explains a lot about your beautiful edges, Thank you. Kennie Mauche
You're welcome! Edges are my passion:)

Flashe paint I believe. See previous post. She's talking mainly about different Mark making btw synthetic and hog brushes

I don't know the brand, Jacqui. It was off cuts from a friend's framing. The mat board has a linen-like texture
Thank I think I have seen this.
Were you using oil paint or Flashe, or acrylic? I like the hog bristle better but they are for oil right? I use synthetic ones with acrylic.
This is Flashe paint. I've edited and clarified the post now. Thanks for the feedback.
Reading the post she is using hog bristle for Flashe. The whole post is about the reason why.
Thanks, Ingrid, for sharing your experience and wisdom. Things I have never thought about.
You're most welcome, Bill:)
