The Figure: Graceful and Loose
Mondays online
March 4-25, 2024
I’ll be teaching two popular workshops again in March, online at The Winslow Art Center.
The Figure, Graceful and Loose focuses on creating figures that have movement, accurate proportions, lively colour in both skin and environment, simplified faces, dynamic brushwork, and more.
My approach will allow you to create plausible people in a variety of poses, without the constraints of grids or outlines.
We cover a lot in a logical way in this course with the aim to give you the tools to tackle any figure with confidence.

Expressive Florals:
Focus on Form, Color and Brushwork
Tuesdays online
March 5-26, 2024
All art has the power to communicate something to the viewer and we’ll explore this ability in Expressive Florals.
That sounds a bit airy fairy and I don’t want you to think we’ll be writing and illustrating haikus or some such. We will, however, play with the power of colour, brushwork, and composition to change the mood and concepts that our paintings convey. It’s a workshop that aims to go beyond pretty pictures of flowers to deeper, more meaningful work.
Each of our paintings will have something to say, but it will also have richly-coloured, beautiful florals. We’ll paint open and closed-form flowers, layer pigments for best effect, and compose the blooms thoughtfully in the space of the canvas.

I hope that one of these workshop catches your eye and that I’ll see you online in the spring:)
Happy painting!
