One Subject, Many Takes:
finding originality through a series
June 23 - 25, 2023
Ellis Art Studios
Kelowna, BC, Canada
I’ll be teaching in one of my favourite places again next summer: Kelowna, BC. I love the beachy, relaxed vibe of this small city and the fact that it’s filled with artists.
“One Subject, Many Takes: finding originality through a series” is a workshop that I developed during the past 2 years of online teaching and am excited to debut in person. It’s a challenging workshop that’s designed to open up new possibilities in painting.
Too often, we painters go on autopilot from the moment we start a new piece. We have our habitual ways of starting and developing paintings and, while we all need a reliable system, these habits can also stop us from exploring exciting new territories in paint.
This workshop launches those explorations!
Using a photo reference of your choice, you’ll create several paintings over the course of three days, each with a different approach. The goal of the workshop is to give you new tools and painting methods and to perk up your painting practise.
It will be a stimulating and fun workshop and I hope that you’ll join me!
