The Living Portrait From Photos
Leading Edge Workshops
Calgary, AB, Canada
May 30 - June 1
There are 2 spots left in my upcoming, in-person workshop and I’m hoping that you’ll fill one of them and join me for three fun days of portraiture!
The goal of The Living Portrait workshop is to breathe life into the stiff, distorted, and difficult faces that photos present us with. Values are too extreme, midtones are lost, temperature is absent… there are many challenges to overcome when using a photo reference. The workshop will address those and more.
As enticement, I’ve added photos of the amazing work done by my current online Living Portrait participants. Below are just a few of the wonderful pieces they created during the class.
What I love about these portraits is that they all transcended their photo references and have a life and energy that the photos couldn’t capture.
I hope you’ll enjoy them and also that you’ll join me in Calgary to paint some life-filled portraits of your own!
Happy painting!
Ingrid, Ingrid. Boy, I would love to do this, but, alas, the notice is too short to sort out vacation, travel, cat sitters, etc. However, if you offer this in the future, I will arrange my life so that I can go on a moment's notice! Really. Thanks for even offering this!
Cheers,
Bill
