Online and FREE at the Winslow Art Center
I’ll be presenting and discussing paintings that bring me to my knees, stun me, dazzle me, and generally make me excited to be a painter - in a 1 hour online talk at the Winslow Art Center. This is a free event, part of the Winslow’s Spring Fling series of talks, demos and follow alongs
I’m not an art historian and won’t pretend to be. The focus of my talk will be on the tools of the artists’ trade: composition, shape, colour, brushwork, edges… All the things that we all employ to create our own paintings. I’ll show you works that are particularly well constructed and explain and diagram why I think so.
The images that I present will span genres and time periods, from museum pieces to Instagram beauties because there’s great work being created every day.
If you’ve wondered why some paintings captivate you while others leave you “meh”, this presentation may hold some answers.
I hope you’ll join me!
